About 40 North
We’re 40 North, a small WordPress team based out of Redding, California. Agencies bring us in to build, run, and support their clients’ sites, at whatever level of visibility the project calls for.
Why we started
40 North started in Redding, California, right on the 40th parallel, out of a simple love for the craft and for building things that hold up over time. We get to spend our days on the work we enjoy most, the building and the problem-solving, while our partners do what they do best.
It’s a privilege to be trusted with that work. We keep the team small on purpose, so the people you meet are the people doing the work, and we stay as visible or as invisible as each project needs. Some clients never know we exist; others work with us directly. Either way, our partners come out looking good, and that’s exactly how we like it.
The team
Small on purpose. We’re a family-run company. You work directly with the people building your sites.
Founder & Lead Developer
Founder, with 15+ years building for the web, from small business sites to nonprofits, universities, and national brands. He’s happiest digging into a hard technical problem, with an eye on work that stays reliable long after launch. Off the clock, you’ll usually find him spending time with his wife and four kids, exploring the outdoors, or working on a home DIY project.
WordPress Engineer
Brennan handles most of our front-end development, along with maintenance, updates, and custom work. He likes the analytical, figure-out-how-it-fits-together side of a project. He’s been with 40 North for four years. Outside of work, he’s into working on cars, gaming, 3D printing, and taking electronics apart to see how they tick.
QA & Client Success
Jessica keeps our projects organized and moving, with a hand in web maintenance, content management, SEO, and quality assurance. She has a knack for bringing structure to busy workflows and a sharp eye for the details, in both English and French. She’s been with 40 North for three years and has called France home for nearly a decade. Off the clock, she’s dancing, at a museum, or happy to tell you about her love of butter.
How we work
Most white-label questions come down to one thing: how visible we are. We made that a feature. You pick the work, then you pick how much of us the client sees.
Fully white-label
Fully white-label. Every message routes through your team, and the client never knows we exist. You bill, you own the relationship, and we report only to you.
Under your brand
We work under your brand, even from an email at your domain, so to the client we’re simply your team. We scale up when you’re busy and step back when you’re not.
Named and direct
Transparent and named. We talk with the client directly as 40 North while you stay in the lead. You can keep billing, or refer the work to us so you don’t have to manage it.
